the laduz table
I am again and again thrilled by the simplicity of simple wood connections like the wedges I use to keep the table together. With the glass construction transparancy and form are created. All the wooden parts are extra visible and the beauty of old craft and new technology blends well. On some parts I use white polyethylene (PE HD) which prevents glass touching on glass. PE and Glass are connected in an ingenious wedged way also inspired by wood craft. Bringing together old woodworking techniques with advanced CNC glass technology (by Van Dijken Glass) are the inspiration for this table. Fusing tradition (form and craft) and new technology (material combination) I coined some time ago the term “cybercraft”. The Laduz table is a good example of this recurring theme within the PeLiDesign oevre. This glass table was conceived in 2014 and with it’s name I pay hommage to a french town with a beautiful museum on everyday objects…visit it (online): here
